Woodland Vertical Band Sawmill

With the current crisis the way it is today there is a great opportunity, to derive an income from custom sawing of local woodlands to help your clients save on lumber costs, with the going rate of a portable band mill services being as it is at $60 to $80 per hour plus expenses, it certainly won’t take long to make your money back on your investment.
After searching for a good long while I found an excellent Vertical Band Sawmill, What I found was the woodland portable vertical Band mill, and it has given me many years of quality work.
This is What I feel is best to look for in a portable sawmill,
1. Portability ( assure that the mill you are using is easy to set up yet after setup is in a good position for loading logs)
2. Bandmill = Thin Curf ( with the high price of wood products these days no use leaving your expensive product in a pile of dust at the sawing station.
3. One Man Operation ( with labor costs and liability being so high these days no use paying an extra $100+ per day plus workmans comp. if not needed )
4. Sufficient power ( The Woodland portable bandmill sawmill comes with a 25 hp kohler gas motor )
5. Vertical band = Why Vertical:

1. It can be used to make square end cuts, tenons, etc. with a second transverse log deck.
2. No height adjustments needed, so no winches, cables, etc. (the log is adjusted laterally via the carriage which is operated from the sawyers station)
3. Motor mounts low on the frame, improving C of G and vibration issues.
4. Sawdust easily discharged downwards from the kerf.
5. Blade lube is simplified, especially the ‘bottom’ side.
6. The whole carriage is very compact: simpler, stronger.
8. Log dogs are more visible and easier to avoid contact with blade.

I bought this mill in the mid 90’s and never had a regret, it has paid for itself many times over , I am no longer living in the states, I had left it for my father to use and he built his house with it, and he is now recently deceased, so it is time to go on to a new owner, it is a shame they don’t make this mill anymore it is a real excellent machine, last I seen they were selling around $40,000 up to $75,000 new back in 2005, I am willing to let this one go for $13,000 as I need to sell it fast ,as well as lot of my father’s other equipment ,so I can get back home to my family. I have now lowered the price to $9,500 for a quick sale.

A brief synopsis: The Current Rates all across the Midwest are $60 – $80 per hour with a $200 minimum , if sawn at customers location, and 35-45 cents per board ft ($350-$450 TBF) if the logs are delivered and unloaded at your location. The customer also pays the extra’s such as blade damage due to particulates in the wood such as metal or stones.
