Can Basswood be used for structural lumber in building a barn?

The wood is light and soft with generally low strength properties and a poor steam-bending classification. It is not a good wood to use for structural applications. It’s main uses are in carvings, turnings, furniture, pattern-making, mouldings, millwork and musical instruments. An important specialized use is Venetian blinds and shutters.
