Buying Timber

Anyone know anything about timber buying?

I have at the bare minimum 50 pine trees and probably around 30 oak trees on my property that I’d LOVE to get rid of. However, being greedy as most, I’d really LOVE to be able to sell the timber. People do still do this right? Anyone have a general idea on how much my husband and I could possibly make from doing this?

Most loggers won’t bother with a job with such a small amount of trees. They prefer larger jobs because of the cost of trasporting their logging equipment, and the time lost in doing so. Of course, it won’t hurt to try. The best way to find a list of loggers and their contact information is through your states’ division of forestry. They are usually listed by county or city, so that you can find some that are close to you. Some other people mentioned environmental impacts from logging, but that is more of a nasty myth in this day and age, although I’m sure a few bad eggs are still out there. Regulations in place these days make logging a much more environmentally friendy practice than most other forms of land management, such as agriculture or construction. Just be sure to make out a detailed contract with the logger, stating that he should minimize disturbance.
