Lumber Pricing

Which one sells cheaper(Price) lumber Lowes Or Home Depot?

My experience when buying lumber from both stores has been a few pennies difference in most cases. 2×4 at Lowes is 2.09 for their “choice” lumber, HD was 1.98 for not so “choice” lumber. For large projects, that might make a difference. For building storage shelves, I go with the cheaper lumber.

I built a 16′x12′ deck a few years ago and the 4″x4″ and 2″x10″ were cheaper at Lowes than at HD. But the decking was cheaper at HD. The hangers were cheaper at Lowes by about 20 cents each so it added up.

I usually lay everything out that I’m going to build as best as I can and then price the lumber out at both stores before I buy anything. I’m lucky because the stores are only about 3 miles apart. Otherwise I’d lose my savings on gas.
