Timber Price

Price for a large timber tree?
120 foot tall douglas fir, about 2.5 feet diameter. Anyone know the price of the amount of wood it contains. Very roughly
For a single tree, you will be lucky if the labor balances the wholesale timber price.
Height and diameter are only part of the equation. Any decay, splits, stains and other defects can cause even a premium tree to become pulp, or firewood.
And if it is a tricky tree to fall, like near a house or power lines, you will likely have to pay for removal.
The best chance of getting value, is if you are able to fall it yourself and can load and haul it in sections at least 10′ to an independent small sawmill. The biggest problem with this is may not be able to use the lumber for construction, which usually requires graded wood. But you may get good boards for cabinets, boxes and other projects.
