is it cheaper to build your own home,or get a house package?

we would like to build a new home, but don’t know if we would be saving much money doing it ourselves or just purchasing a house package. my husband has connections if we are to build ourselves like wholesale timber,we have plumbers and electricians in our family and my husband can do all the footing work himself.

Well, if you husband does have connections, then yes, it would be cheaper to do it yourselves because you will be eliminating the middle man. Though, you will then be responsible for all the set up. What I mean by this, is that you will have to schedule contractors for each step at the correct time.
Such as the framers have to come after the concrete pour, the plumber needs to be there before the cabinetary people get there, and so on.

It can become very frustrating setting up schedules and having everyone come at the right time.

Don’t forget about permits! There maybe several inspections before you can go to the next step.
